The final Saturday set kicks off with Blew Tubes Full Blast; a rousing Big Band with other musicians from the evening joining the party.
Blew Tubes style is popular in the USA with it's roots in the trad jazz marching bands of New Orleans yet it's true musical appeal firmly in modern jazz with blue note and funk fusions. The band is led by Roan Kearsey-Lawson on Drums and Harry Cook on Sousaphone who has sourced all the repetoir and arranged many of the pieces for the band. The concept for the band was inspired by a gig with Jean Toussaint where Harry added in the sousaphone and Roan played a Street Beat rhythm to Watermelonman. Completing the back line is James Hayes on hammond, while the front line boasts the talents of Jean Toussaint on tenor, Sam Mayne on Alto, Tracey Mendham on Barri Sax, Geoff Mason & Martyn Rawbone on trombone and leading the tunes Steve Fishwick and Ray Butcher on trumpet.
